Just In
Isabel Marant via The New Guard
Tye-die. Mad embellishment. The ribbing on that parka. Wide-shoulder gilet. Everything is so great.

Nebula
They seem to be trending recently, and they're also images that I've been collecting on tumblr over the past couple of weeks.
I decided to find some more images, and coming from the NASA website, you know they're legit. And beautiful.
There is interesting information about them on the site as well.
Geode
These images and this project are fantastic. All Paige Smith/A Common Name.

“Geode” Street Art Project
"The past couple months I have been working on a street art project
around the Los Angeles area. Rather than using traditional paint or
wheat paste methods in a 2D platform, I’ve been using paper in 3D. These
sculptures come in all sizes and fit in the holes of buildings and
pipes found while walking around. The finished shapes represent geodes,
crystal, quartz, or any mineral formation that you would normally find
in nature, now in our planned out cities.
A parallel aspect of these “geodes” in nature and in the city is they
are always unexpected treasures. You might go hunting for treasures but
you generally happen upon them during your adventures or casual
interaction with the environment. I enjoy the fact that many people will
not notice these, but some astute people will; that these will not last
forever and the weather will affect them as naturally as it might in
nature. So far I’ve made twelve—several have been trashed or taken away,
and one has fallen apart due to rain. Enjoy the images and feel free to
hunt for the existing ones using this map of current locations."
A Common Name's project and idea are amazing. I love them, especially since I've been loving and collecting loads of images of crystals and minerals lately on my tumblr.
I am so enthusiastic about this work!
And she has even started to investigate image projection.
Last four images from her blog. So beautiful.

On Repeat
I'm looking into repetition sketches. My interest has been spurred by
Mark Whiteman's work, who is someone I have recently been put in contact
with via a tutor at uni. He's awesome.
These images are from his facebook.
He has spoken about his interest in Yayoi Kusama and her obsessive mark-making.
These images reminded me of Darrel Viner's computer illustrations from the 1970s.
And Darrel Viner's work made me think of modern day geometric/graphic illustration. Here is some of Jeffrey Docherty's work.
I guess people are always going to love triangles.

shot
Just a selection of screen shots from the footage taken in VT last month. I'm hoping to start editing in the next few weeks once most of my uni work is out the way.
