Collage and Photo

I love photographs because I love the freedom and visual richness that reproducible images can bring. So much of what we all see is on a monitor - so many of the photographs we take we never hold, and that could be to say that we miss out of the tactile nature of a picture. I feel more comfortable physically altering photographic images with scissors and glue; perhaps this is because I've had more experience cutting and sticking than I have using programs - maybe its just because I like doing it by hand more. Either way, I cut up pictures.

As part of a visual diary project for my Internship, I've been cutting up images from magazines to make collages. There is just something really fun about it. And all I do with my people banners is cut up pictures then put them together in a different way.

It must be for these reasons that I admire the photo collages of Damien Blottiere (top three images and the following):

Really intriguing images.

All of these works have manipulated space in ways which I think are really good fun.

Summer Ski

About two weeks ago, it was my university ski club's summer blow-out, which included an outdoor summer set-up (courtesy of Wasteland and Sno!Zone Castleford). Not many photographs or films were taken unfortunately (too much drinking). I found this one though; I'm on the in-run. It was a really fun afternoon of skiing with friends in the sun - the feature was a 4m box and the snow lasted out until about 8pm.

I've been slowly collecting all the footage I shot from my Easter trip, as it was saved on numerous ski-bums' laptops all over resort. I've started organising my time well enough to begin thinking about the edit; it'll be quite a large, time-consuming project, but I'm going to enjoy the process knowing there isn't a deadline to finish it. I can't wait to get started.

Other than that, I'm looking forward to the Parkstrife launch on the 29th June at Cas. I've not been skiing for a while, and what with a handful of friends riding Southern Hemisphere this summer, I'm pretty desperate to clip back in.

Jubilicious

Jubilee on the Boat from Faith Robinson on Vimeo.

A film made by me which documents the Queens jubilee from my friend's Chelsea houseboat.
